Untangled: A Journey Through Layers

Dec 06 - 21, 2025

Opening Reception: Sat, Dec 2, 7-10 pm

Tiger Strikes Asteroid LA is pleased to present Agnes Hong’s Untangled: A Journey Through Layers, a solo exhibition curated by Sua Kim

Agnes Hong examines the often invisible labor of caregiving through tactile processes and repetitive gestures. Drawing from her personal experience about the profound labor of motherhood, her practice reflects on the persistence and devotion inherent in acts of care.

Hong’s material vocabulary, encompassing wood, ultrasuede, velvet, and clay, deepens the process-driven approach. She gravitates toward soft yet resilient fabrics, engaging methods that evoke meditative and cyclical rhythms. By navigating uncertainty and temporality, she aims to create a contemplative space for growth, healing, and transformation.

Hong positions uncertainty as a central condition of the creative process. She explores waiting as a state of resilience, vulnerability, and renewal, revealing the emotional labor embedded within the act of nurturing. Untangled reflects the layered complexities of care, love, and endurance, illuminating the evolving nature of human connection.
