Jesi Cook

Jesi Cook (b.1982 Kingston, NY) is a choreographer based in New York since 2005. Her work embraces memory at the intersection of sound and movement. In her cross-discipline process, she examines personal histories and research into erased indigenous practices of post-war South Korea. She has been awarded Artist-in-Residence at Movement Research, MoMA PS1, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, PAM, New York Live Arts / Fresh Tracks, and AUNTS x Mana Contemporary. Her work has been commissioned and presented in venues such as Roulette Intermedium, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church, Pieter Performance Space Los Angesles, Central Park Gallery, LmaK Gallery, and PAM Residencies. Cook’s drawing scores were published in The Capilano Review Winter edition 2021. She grew up in Durham, NC and holds a BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase.
