Tiger Strikes Asteroid Greenville (TSA GVL) is hosting a new exhibition titled Pulse, featuring local artists Katherine Coyne, Tyson Gentry, Tanya Johnson, Nicole Vega, Rachel Updegraft, and Gabriel Williams. The works featured are a coalescence of drawing, photography, sculpture, and printmaking, with a unifying thread of the rhythmic patterns stored in the experience of a human body. The exhibition will run from June 20th until July 18th, with an opening reception in the gallery on July 3rd, 2026.
Undulating, tessellating, repeating: Pulse considers the rhythmic and internal nature of the immaterial experience. The term “pulse” refers not only to the body’s physical mechanisms, but also to a wavelength of articulation, sensation, and response. As artists, we work to reconcile these experiences through making. Whether engaging sensation, displacement, reality, language, or the self, we turn toward contemplative processes that give form to what is often fleeting, unstable, or difficult to name. Though our thematic concerns differ, we intersect through repetition, material inquiry, and an ongoing drive to reexamine. The gallery becomes the space where our distinct examinations meet.
Pulse functions as a living collective frequency, where these distinct paths accumulate into a shared topography of the intangible. By positioning these inquiries side by side, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a resonant chamber where the digital, tactile, linguistic, and photographic vibrate in tandem. Through material and process, these artists use repetition as a tool for persistence, shaping a vital conversation around the desire to capture, understand, and remain with the fleeting rhythms of existence.
