GREENVILLE

friends from work

Aug 2 - Sep 6, 2025

Artist Reception: Sat, Sep 6, 6 - 9 pm

An Exhibition co-curated by TSA GVL members Adam Eddy, Rebecca Forstater, and Sterling Bowen.

friends from work. explores the unexpected connections, parallels, and juxtapositions created between artists who are linked not by medium or concept but by the places they work.

Today, the vast majority of artists do not make a living solely from the sale of their paintings, sculptures, videos, installations, or performances. Many hold jobs adjacent to the arts, while others work in entirely different fields. These jobs often, sometimes unexpectedly, serve as sites of connection and community. Shared workspaces can become places where creative relationships and even friendships form and where the boundaries between labor and artistic practice begin to blur.

friends from work. reimagines the day job not as a detour from artistic life, but as a generative space; one that sparks new ideas, and fosters problem-solving strategies that carry into the studio.

TSA GVL members Adam Eddy, Sterling Bowen, and Rebecca Forstater invited current and former coworkers who are also creatives to take part in an experimental curatorial approach. The works in this exhibition are not united by a singular theme or aesthetic, but by shared labor, lived proximity, and the informal networks formed through working together.
